Stoneledge Landscaping Committee Update - June 2026
The Landscaping Committee has finalized a request form, approved plant list, and guidelines for homeowner requests, which will be available soon on the Landscape Information page of the Stoneledge website at (Landscape Information Page).
These resources are designed to provide a helpful tool for homeowners to submit requests and for the Landscaping Committee to review, approve, and comment on them. Landscape professional, Michael Dorn, developed the approved plant list, and it is intended to provide easy-to-maintain plants suitable for full sun, shade, or partial sun/shade conditions. Please note that all desired changes should follow this process except the planting of annuals or plants placed in a pot.
We are excited to bring this new resource to the community and look forward to helping homeowners enhance and maintain the beauty of Stoneledge.
June Summary of Projects:
- Beautification Plan: Continued work with M. Dorn (Professional Landscaper and Botanist) on a beautification plan proposal for four designated community areas. Our goal is to develop a plan for enhancing the community appearance further by upgrading several community common areas. We target having the finalized plan with three supplier quotes for consideration by the Board in early Fall. The four areas include:
1. Front entrance to right of stop sign along stone wall and across street where bench is located
2. Field to left of curve beyond dumpsters where patio seating is located
3. Clubhouse entrance
4. Two main pathways to the lake located by #510 and by #582
- Tree Trimming and Removal: Trimming of the hollies at the four-way stop, along with additional tree removals and limb trimming, was completed. Please note that any future requests will be placed on a consolidated list and will require Board budget approval.
- Lakeside Trees: The planting of five trees near the lakeside has been approved and is scheduled for June. These trees will replace five trees approved by Duke Energy for removal.
- Scalloped Edge: Installation of the scalloped edging and mulch in the area where the old dumpsters were located and along the left of the roadway to Phase 2 has been completed.
- Open Field Improvements: To improve the grass in the open field, additional watering and fertilizer applications will be implemented on an ongoing basis.
- Homeowner Requests: Requests from three homeowners have been completed or are currently in process.
- Downspout Drainage Project: Of the seven homes included in the downspout drainage project, work has been completed at five homes. The remaining two homes are scheduled for completion in June.
- Kudzu Control: Initiating bids for removal and treatment of kudzu to the left of the roadway going from Phase 1 to Phase 2.
- River Rock Refresh: The Committee conducted a visual tour of the community on Wednesday, June 17, and identified primarily drainage areas requiring additional river rock. Property Manager, Wallace Martel, will obtain a bid for the Board's consideration and funding approval. Committee intends to implement this as a good use of the river rocks removed from the drainage ditches on each side of the front entrance road during the renewal of that area.
- The next Landscaping Committee meeting will be held Wednesday, July 15 at 2:00 p.m.
